Why did you choose to study online?
I have a child, and I didn't have the extra time to spend in a classroom. Studying through an online program gave me the flexibility to stay at home while I earned my degree.
Was it difficult to finance?
No. I filled out the FAFSA and took out an additional loan to cover the expenses. It wasn't any different than financing for regular courses. The steps were pretty easy to follow.
How did you buy books?
The school I attended had an online bookstore. You can always compare prices at local bookstores and online book sellers. I was able to purchase several downloadable books through my school which was very convenient.
Was it difficult to stay motivated and manage your time?
There were times where it was difficult. You definitely need to be self motivated and disciplined to do well with online courses. My best advice is to stay organized. Most professors will give a syllabus with given deadlines for tests/projects. Stay on top of your schedule and to stay motivated try to focus on the end goal...your degree!
Have you taken any regular courses? How do they compare to your online courses?
I have taken 3 semesters of regular courses. Regular and online courses are very similar, yet very different. They are similar because you are still required to complete papers, tests, and projects just like a regular course. However, they are different because you don't have to spend countless hours in the classroom, and at times may feel like you are being self taught due to all of the independent reading and studying.
Would you take online courses again?
Yes! I wouldn't have received my degree without it. It gave me the flexibility I needed to complete a degree while raising my child. I'd pick this route again in a heartbeat!
