Overall experience
I am enjoying the college experience immensely and enjoy the small community feel that is TLU. The most important piece advice that I would give is to make sure that they want to get involved in some organization.
Selection process and gaining admission
The process is easy, just fill the application out and write the essay. I received assistance from my parents and high school teachers in making sure that I was getting my applications and such done on time and in a professional manner. The selection process was tough but not overly so. For a stress-free process I suggest that the student start early and devote time each day to getting this process completed on time.
Funding and scholarships
TLU provides ample funding. There are performance scholarships as well as academic scholarships.
Academic support
The best bits are the projects that are focused in real world application of the concepts you are learning. Each week I probably study fifteen to twenty hours. The lecturers are experienced in their field, helpful and try to make sure they are clear. A good amount of the classes are lecture but there is a great amount hands on parts to the coursework. You receive ample help from the professors and outside tutors.
Campus life
The facilities have a combination of new and older buildings but all have ample amenities. The sports facilities are smaller but sufficient. I am part of Greek life and it is a community within a community. Greek life has been a big plus in my life. Everyone is friendly around the campus. There are ample jobs on and off campus for those that need or want to work.
Career prospects
Yes but the economy is slow that affects everyone. If you do well in your studies you will have ample opportunities. I plan to keep in touch with a lot of alumni.
