About this scholarship:
This one-year scholarship is open to all junior and senior English majors with at least one semester of work completed at UNT. The award is based on excellence in an original piece of fiction, poetry, drama, or in a personal essay.

Eligibility
Each of the undergraduate scholarships (except for the Veta Watson Percy) is paid in two installments (fall and spring). The following qualifications apply to all these scholarships: Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA on all college work completed or a total of 1000 on the SAT or 24 in English on the ACT for entering freshmen. The continuation of all scholarships into the second semester is contingent upon a student's maintaining a GPA of 3.0 in at least 12 semester hours of course work (15 for the Mohat) and making at least a grade of B in each English class. They must be enrolled at UNT but does not have to be a Texas resident.
How to apply
Students must submit completed application form. In addition, they must submit name, campus id number (or social security number), address, and telephone number; transcripts; proof of SAT or ACT scores for freshmen; cover letter; proof of native Texas residency, such as a birth certificate for Whitten applicants; pieces of creative writing for Sample applicants and proof of financial need for the Veta Watson Percy applicants.
