Why did you want to complete your undergraduate degree?
I knew attending college for my undergrad was important because it meant more opportunity. As opposed to past generations, a GED or High School Diploma is not enough to guarantee a high-paying job, so an undergraduate degree is an extremely important stepping stone to advance your career and get you on track to be the best professional you can be, while also making a good living.
Was it difficult to finance?
I spent most of my college years broke. I knew that eventually things would change once I graduated, but the four years of college took a lot of financial discipline and frugalness. There are many different options when it comes to financing your education. There are many government loans, scholarships, and private loans that offer low interest rates to make repayment much simpler. There is no price tag that can be put on your education - it will pay for itself in the long run.
How many hours were you expected to study?
I was expected to study approximately 2 hours for every 1 hour spent in the classroom. Each week I would spend about 20-25 hours a week in preparation for an exam or any projects that were currently due.
Would you recommend having a job during school?
Definitely. I think that having a job in school is extremely beneficial. Not only are you able to make much needed extra money to help offset costs at school, but you're also able to keep your people and professional skills up to date.
Were you involved in student clubs or extracurricular activities? Good experience?
I was involved in many student clubs and extracurricular activities. This was the key to helping me make all my friends and getting to know people outside of the classroom. I definitely recommend taking advantage of the four years that you are in college to be a part of as many events and clubs as possible. You will never get to re-live the experience, so make the most of it!
Has earning your undergraduate degree helped you find a good job?
Yes. I wouldn't have the job I have now without my degree. I've not only gained knowledge by earning my degree, but confidence as well, which has helped me be successful with my career.
