The University of Dayton is a private Catholic university operated by the Society of Mary located in Dayton, Ohio. It was established in 1850 as St. Mary's School for Boys. Known at various times as St. Mary's School, St. Mary's Institute and St. Mary's College, the school assumed its present identity in 1920. The study programs of the university are divided among its colleges, namely, the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business Administration, School of Education and Allied Professions, School of Engineering, School of Law and Graduate School.
