The University of Dayton is a private Catholic university operated by the Society of Mary located in Dayton, Ohio. It was established in 1850 as St. Mary's School for Boys. Known at various times as St. Mary's School, St. Mary's Institute and St. Mary's College, the school assumed its present identity in 1920.
