Public four year institutions get all the hype and media time because they are bigger and tend to have more money but what they don't advertise is that a large number of students each year opt to attend a two year community college before moving onto those four year schools. Community colleges are cheaper, faster, highly vocational, and offer students a chance to start their career sooner with little to no debt. Many students also use community colleges as a starting point for earning their bachelor's degree.
