Public Universities and Colleges in the US

Public Universities - Bigger Campus, Smaller Tuition

Public universities generally tend to be student bodies with over 6,000 students but some have student bodies of over 50,000 students. More students =more alumni which= more money for the school. These universities are able to offer students incredible resources, the ability to hire top faculty and maintain state of the art educational and recreational facilities because they have more money.

Do students end up feeling like a number?

  • Just because the campus and student body is large doesn't mean you have to feel like a number. Public universities offer a wide range of extra curricular activities so there is usually something for everyone.

Doesn't such a large school cost a lot?

  • Not at all! Every state offers at least one state funded university which means that tuition costs are significantly less than say a private college. Most of these universities are also located in urban areas which means housing costs are lower and public transportation is likely to be available.

Are these schools going to have an area of study that's interesting to me?

  • Public universities offer an astounding amount of options for educational training. You are able to get a degree in just about any academic field imaginable. Finally, most public universities have graduate programs which means you can continue your studies if you choose to.
